Lucky Jack packs his things for Smores

Lucky Jack was packing his things. "I need to travel light.", he thought. But I need to take something to keep me going on the long walk to Smores.

Just then, Jack had a great idea. He would make himself his favourite. Lucky Charms Cereal Fudge Brownies. All he had to do was find the recipe that his Aunt had left him. "Good old Aunty", he wispered with a grin. "I love those. And they'll keep me going on my journey."

He found the recipe. It was as follows... take:
  • 375g soft unsalted butter
  • 375g best quality dark chocolate
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 500g caster sugar
  • 225g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 300g Lucky charms breakfast cereal
First off, preheat the oven to 180°C. It's important to get the oven temperature right as you want the outside of the brownie to be slightly crisp and the inside to be a little bit chewy.

Line your approximately 33 x 23 x 5 1/2cm brownie pan with foil or baking paper.

Now we're ready for the fun. Simply melt the butter and chocolate together in a large heavy based saucepan.

Then, in a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla. Now measure the flour into another bowl and add the salt.

When the chocolate mixture has melted, let it cool a bit before beating in the eggs and sugar mixture, and then the Lucky Charms Cereal and flour. Once again, timing and practice are important here. If the chocolate is too hot, it can take on a slightly over cooked taste (not nice) and the egg could start to harden prematurely. You want the chocolate mix 'just melted'.

Now, combine it all together so that the flour is absorbed and the Lucky Charms evenly distributed. Then scrape out of the saucepan into the lined brownie pan.

Bake for 25 minutes in that pre-heated over.

When it's ready, the top should be dried to a paler brown speckle, but the middle still dark and dense and gooey.

Keep checking the brownies as they cook; remember that they will continue to cook as they cool so 25minutes should be fine.

Wow! Jack thought... This is going to be a great adventure. What a start!

Luck Jack pops to The Tart

Now, not far from Lucky Jack's house sat the charming public house called The Tart. Jack popped to the Tart every now and again to get the latest village gossip, chat with friends and, more importantly to Jack, gaze lovingly at the beautiful barmaid, Froot deLoop.

Froot had worked at the Tart for years and, as Jack came through the door, she gave him the same big smile she always had for Jack.

"Hi Jack, the usual?", she asked.

"Yes please Froot", he smiled back at her, "Apple cider for Lucky Jack".

"What's up Jack?", Froot enquired, "You look like something's troubling you."

"Well, I don't really know. I just have a weird feeling in my stomach. Ever since I had my American Breakfast Cereals this morning, I have just had this strange idea that I need to... do something."

"Like what? We've got a quiz night tonight. Stay here and join in"

"No Froot. I mean - really something. Something important. Something big. Something beyond Charmsville."

"Oooh", laughed Froot. "That sounds like you need an adventure."

"Yes!", he exclaimed, "That's exactly how I felt. An adventure. I need to go and do something different."

Just that instant, a man entered the Tart in a fine suit and cravat. It was Mr Grits. The town mayor.

"Hi Mr Grits", Froot smiled, "Any exciting news today. Jack is down on Charmsville and thinks he needs an adventure. Me, I love Charmsville. No adventures for me."

"Well Froot" Mr Grits said, "I do have some news. That's why I popped in. I want to leave these leaflets and tell everyone about an exciting event coming up. In two weeks, the King is going to be visiting our region's capital city, Smores, and there is going to be a big parade. He is welcoming Lord Graham the Golden into the royal court. And there is going to be a huge celebration. I think that will be an adventure, hey Mr Charms."

"Sounds great.", said Jack, "That sounds really great. I might leave for Smores next week and get there early. Do some sightseeing and then make sure I have a prime position for the celebrations. That is very exciting indeed."

"Well Mr Grits", giggled Froot, "You've made Lucky Jack Charms happy!".

Find out what happens on Lucky Jacks trip to Smores. And how he discovers Lord Graham the Golden's terrible plan to take over the kingdom of Cheerios. In the mean time, you can find out why Lucky Jack is so Lucky at http://www.american-breakfast-cereals.co.uk/

Adventure awaits

It was a sunny day in Charmsville in the land of Cheerios, a small town far away in the deepest, quietest countryside. Lucky Jack was sat on a bench outside his home. Nothing much was happening. Everything was still and calm. There was nothing much to do.

His home was a small, yet cosy white, stone cottage with a oak wooden door, wobbly windows and a brown slate roof. Neat but casual. Cosy yet clean. There really wasn't much to do.

The garden was a dreamy blend of loosely trimmed grass and meadow flowers spilling over the flowerbeds. Organised - yet relaxed. The sun was warm and fuzzy. The insects hummed along. There really wasn't much to do.

In fact, Luck Jack was pretty bored. He was restless, yet sleepy. He was up for it... but couldn't muster the energy. He felt like doing... something. But couldn't think quite what. It was relaxing in his warm, dreamy garden. But there really wasn't that much to do.

What he needed, he thought, was an adventure.

This is the start of Lucky Jack's adventures. Read here for more... see you soon.
